Fourth suspect arrested, new details emerge in Newport robbery arrests

NEWPORT, Ore. – Four men face serious charges after an alleged armed robbery took place in Newport, according to court documents.

Three of the suspects were caught shortly after in Corvallis, except for one who was apprehended days later. Miguel Sosa of Portland, Manuel Felipe of Gresham, and Jonathan Duran of Portland are charged with first-degree robbery and several other offenses. The robbery occurred in the parking lot of the Fish Peddler’s Market on Bay Boulevard just before 6 p.m. on Friday.

The victim reported that he had arranged to purchase marijuana from a friend, Uziel Fuentes Hernandez. However, when the vehicle arrived, a masked man allegedly pointed a gun at him and ordered him into the vehicle. Once inside, the victim was reportedly forced to hand over $1,200 in cash by four masked men before being released. The incident, captured on security cameras, lasted only 40 seconds, according to an affidavit. The Benton County Sheriff’s Office stopped the vehicle on Philomath Boulevard in Corvallis and arrested three of the suspects less than two hours later…
