A heatwave has hit much of western Oregon. In the Willamette Valley, an Extreme Heat Warning is now in place through at least Tuesday evening. The National Weather Service said on Friday Eugene set an all-time recorded high for the date, at 99 degrees Fahrenheit. That broke a record of 96 for Aug. 22 that had been set four times, most recently in 1988.
In Lane County, the Lane Regional Air Protection Agency has now issued an air quality advisory until at least Monday evening for the Eugene-Springfield area.
