Amid a 100-degree heat wave, the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality issued an air quality advisory for the Portland metro area over the weekend and the Willamette Valley to Lane County.
The state agency expects ozone pollution to reach unhealthy levels for sensitive groups, which includes children, pregnant people, older adults and people with heart disease or respiratory conditions. The advisory notice urges residents to limit activities that cause pollution, including driving and using gas-powered yard equipment.
