CORVALLIS, Ore. – Federal officials with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement have responded to inquiries on a Sept. 3 arrest in Corvallis.
Earlier this week, Corvallis Police Department officials said that federal ICE agents took an individual into custody at about 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 3 on Northwest Division Street. Corvallis police had no prior knowledge of the operation undertaken by ICE agents, authorities said. CPD officials also said that state law prohibits local law enforcement from using public resources to support federal immigration enforcement and that the Corvallis Law Enforcement Center does not house ICE detainees, nor does ICE operate from the facility.
