Union County joins others in requesting clarification amidst state vs federal legal conflicts

UNION COUNTY – During a regular meeting on Wednesday, September 3, the Union County Board of Commissioners approved joining other counties in officially requesting clarification from the state on the enforcement of state vs federal laws at the local level amidst ongoing legal disputes

More specifically, according to a correspondence from Union County legal counsel Wyatt Baum (shared by the county with Elkhorn Media Group) this request for clarification concerns the ongoing dispute of Oregon’s Sanctuary Promise Act and Oregon Public Records, with current federal law. The request originates from Marion County and seeks formal clarification from either the state or federal legal departments on how local governments should proceed in order to stay within both federal and state laws during the dispute.
