Police on Thursday arrested two juveniles in connection with a June 28 fire that destroyed a historic Newberg train trestle and threatened nearby apartment buildings.
The Newberg-Dundee Police Department declined to name the juveniles but said they are accused of breaking into a storage shed located at the Northwest Christian Church, stealing a gas canister and taking a riding lawn mower for a spin. The Oregonian/OregonLive names juveniles only in serious cases such as homicides or attempted homicides.
The fire broke out just before 3 a.m. near the trestle, which was north of Oregon 99E by George Fox University. Fire officials did not say how the juveniles are accused of starting the fire, saying only that they used the gas canister to do so…
