Lebanon man arrested in connection with fight, firearm use in early morning incident

LEBANON, Ore. – A disturbance involving gunfire rocked Lebanon early on Saturday, according to the Lebanon Police Department.

LPD officials said that officers responded at about 2:07 a.m. on Sept. 6 to a report of several people fighting near 45 West Sherman Street. A firearm was reportedly discharged during the altercation. Witnesses said a man wearing a green jacket and gold chain fired three rounds into the air before fleeing. Officers found a 9mm shell casing at the scene but did not recover the weapon.

With help from Linn County Sheriff’s deputies, police arrested 23-year-old Caden Smith, of Lebanon, near West Ash Street. Smith faces charges of unlawful use of a weapon, menacing, and disorderly conduct. The investigation is ongoing. Jail records show Smith is in custody as of Sept. 8…
