Salem man sentenced to over 32 years in prison for deadly shooting during armed robbery

SALEM, Ore. — A Salem man was sentenced to more than 32 years behind bars for a 2020 shooting and armed robbery that left one man dead and another person seriously injured.

Arturo Mendez-Perez, 24, pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree attempted murder and two counts of first-degree robbery.

On Sept. 22, 2020, Mendez-Perez participated in a robbery and shooting of 18-year-old Andrew Ray Rosas and another person on Savage Road at Hoover Park in Salem. Rosas died as a result, while the other victim survived with serious injuries. Mendez-Perez was not arrested or charged at the time…
