Oregon Department of Transportation looking to hire more workers to prepare for winter

SALEM, Ore. – With colder weather and winter conditions on the way for Oregon, and the passage of a new bill to fund road maintenance, the Oregon Department of Transportation is looking to hire new staff to help out over the winter.

ODOT officials said the department is looking to fill a mix of seasonal and permanent maintenance positions that help with winter maintenance service in every region of Oregon. Officials said they are able to do so thanks to the passage of House Bill 3991 and new funding for road maintenance which will come to ODOT very soon.

“This funding is a significant investment, and we do not treat it lightly,” said ODOT Director Kris Strickler in a written statement. “ODOT will move as quickly as possible to fill vacancies, restore staffing levels and deliver the critical services Oregonians rely on in winter.”…
