Cooler temps, light wind for Portland area Wednesday

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Halfway through the work week, and the weather is remaining dry in the Willamette Valley.

Wednesday will be much cooler compared to the 80° temperatures we saw across the metro area on Tuesday. In fact, people can expect high temperatures 10 to 15° cooler than yesterday. High temperatures across the Portland metro area will top out in the mid- to upper-60s Wednesday, along with light wind.

Looking ahead, a trough of low pressure in the Gulf of Alaska will continue to develop and move south towards the Pacific Northwest tomorrow and Friday. This trough will bring in additional cool air and an increase in shower activity as we approach the weekend. In fact, there may even be a dusting of higher elevation snow in the Cascades by the time that weekend is up.

This particular air mass is quite chilly for this time of the year. Models also continue to struggle a bit with the exact timing and amounts of rainfall in the next few days. But it is safe to say that cooler and wetter fall weather is on the way later in the week and into the weekend.

But until then, expect partly to mostly sunny skies today across the valley with cooler nights on the way. Expect overnight low temperatures to dip down into the 40s…
