Providence closing four Portland-area occupational health clinics

In an unexpected announcement, Providence Health & Services officials said the company will close its four remaining occupational health clinics in the Portland area early next month.

The closures were announced Friday in an email obtained by The Lund Report. It said the clinics would close Nov. 7 as part of a company decision to move away from occupational health services “as a core” part of its business.

The closures are bad news for other businesses, including many health care companies, that have relied on Providence to screen their employees for drugs or alcohol or to treat them for workplace-related injuries. Providence has been a major provider of occupational health care services…
