All power restored after storm caused outages

A powerful storm is moving through the Pacific Northwest, part of a seasonal weather pattern known as an atmospheric river — a long band of concentrated moisture. Rain and breezy conditions are expected to develop Friday, with stronger winds expected Saturday.

All EWEB customers who lost power Saturday had their service restored by Sunday morning, according to the utility’s outage map.

The National Weather Service updated its predictions for the storm’s effect for regions across the Pacific Northwest.

  • In the Willamette Valley, that meant a 10-20% chance for thunderstorms that may bring heavy rain and “gusty outflow winds.”
  • Conditions are expected to be worse on Lane County’s coast, where the NWS is warning of thunderstorms, hazardous seas and a moderate threat of sneaker waves, which knock people off their feet suddenly and quickly pull them into the ocean.

The NWS is also forecasting another potential atmospheric river that could move through the Pacific Northwest next weekend, Friday, Oct. 31, and Saturday, Nov. 1, and bring wind and heavy rain to the Willamette Valley…
