PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – Local governments and nonprofits are offering help to Oregonians impacted by the expected suspension of SNAP benefits on Nov. 1 during the government shutdown.
On Wednesday, Governor Tina Kotek declared a statewide food emergency and directed $5 million to Oregon food banks, while also calling on the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to release emergency contingency funds for SNAP.
