Veterans Day parade in Albany draws thousands to honor heroes

ALBANY, Ore. – Veterans from various wars were celebrated in Albany on Tuesday during the annual Linn County Veterans Day Parade. Thousands gathered to show their appreciation for those who served.

The parade is one of the largest in Oregon and has been honoring service members for decades. Veterans from World War II to Afghanistan participated, riding floats or marching down Pacific Boulevard.

“It used to not be like this,” said Dianne Standing, president of the American Legion Auxiliary. “Veterans came home and it was very sad… but now we look at them a different way because they’re there for our country and they served our country and that’s why we’re free.”…
