‘The community is really shaken’: ICE arrests 24 in Salem in one day, immigration advocates say

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested 24 Oregon residents in Salem on Tuesday, according to local immigration advocates.

Oregon for All — a coalition representing dozens of organizations, including Innovation Law Lab and Pineros y Campesinos Unidos del Noroeste (PCUN) — called it the highest one-day detention total in years.

“These were Oregonians taken from the heart of Salem’s close-knit Latino community,” PCUN President and Executive Director Reyna Lopez said. “This is where I grew up. It’s a vibrant and strong Latino community. We are heartbroken today.”
