PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A McMinnville High School student was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers while on his lunch break off campus, the school district confirmed to KOIN 6 News.
The 17-year-old senior is a U.S. citizen, according to the Yamhill County News-Register. The district did not confirm those specific details to KOIN 6, saying they couldn’t share the student’s name or other personal information due to privacy laws.
“This afternoon, we became aware of an incident off school grounds in which a high school student was taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during today’s lunch period. Students who were nearby witnessed the event.
