Northwest of Salem, residents experienced a minor jolt as a magnitude 3.2 earthquake struck the area early Sunday morning. The U.S. Geological Survey pinpointed the quake’s epicenter about three miles southeast of Amity, and it happened at precisely 7:58 a.m., according to a report by KGW. Detailed information from the agency mentioned that the tremor occurred at a depth of 9.4 miles below the surface, with a slight uncertainty in location and magnitude measurements.

The quake, though moderately weak, was felt in Salem as well as in nearby towns like Dallas, Sheridan, and Silverton.
