Polk County has approved the zoning on a new solid waste transfer facility that is proposed to be built on the site of the former Rickreall Dairy, which closed in 2023.
Hearings officer Leslie D. Howell approved the land use applications from Apple Tree Holdings on Nov. 7 to build the solid waste facility on 37.1 acres of the property at 8635 Rickreall Road.
Polk County Community Development director Austin McGuigan said that decision wasn’t appealed to the Polk County Board of Commissioners. That means Howell’s decision, which became effective Nov. 19, is the final decision and can’t be appealed…
