PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Six months after Marion County District Attorney Paige Clarkson announced a grand jury would investigate Oregon’s largest youth prison, their findings have been released.
The grand jury identified numerous systemic issues at MacLaren Youth Facility, creating what it described in its report as “cascading failures.”
“These challenges are complex and interrelated, affecting safety, rehabilitation, staffing, and operational stability for both the staff and youth at MacLaren,” the report said.
