The city of Woodburn plans to continue its fight against the invasive emerald ash borer into the new year.
In an effort to improve long term planning against the beetle infestation, city officials are moving into their next phase of response to the invasive ash borer, announcing plans to inventory all ash trees on city land beginning in early 2026.
The city’s 2026 ash tree inventory is intended to help officials identify where the trees are located and which may be most at risk for ash borer, a destructive insect that has already infested parts of Woodburn. Once infested, ash trees typically die within three to seven years, becoming brittle and dangerous to people and property.
