SCIO, Ore. – A 29-year-old Salem man was arrested last week in connection with the alleged theft of a welder from a Linn County business, according to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
LCSO officials said they responded just before 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 23 to a reported burglary at a local business on Duffy Lane near Scio. A suspect reportedly broke into the building through a back door and allegedly stole a blue Miller welder valued at nearly $4,000, sheriff’s officials said. Authorities said that, later that day, two individuals attempted to sell a similar welder at Ace Buyers in Albany. Deputies found a woman in a pickup truck outside with a blue welder concealed under a tarp.
Sheriff’s officials said that a store employee reported that a man, identified as Nathaniel Leach, ran into a nearby Discount Tire store. Deputies found him hiding in the bathroom and took him into custody with help from the Albany Police Department…
