Oregon Humane Society lands record with more than 12,000 adoptions in 2025

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Oregon Humane Society ended the year with a record 12,482 adoptions at its Portland and Salem campuses in 2025.

Among those was Stevie the kitten, the last adoption in Portland. After only arriving at OHS from Tacoma just a few days before, Stevie “instantly captured the hearts of Lindsay and her son, 11-year-old Aksel,” the shelter said.

Meanwhile, Macaroni the kitten was the last adoption of the year in Salem. OHS said she came to the shelter in November as a stray and received care at a foster home until she was ready for adoption.

Among other highlights, OHS said its Community Veterinary Hospital gave more than $825,000 in financial assistance to pet owners.

Additionally, OHS Humane Law Enforcement investigated 774 cases and aided more than 1,500 animals involved in suspected neglect or abuse cases…
