Briel’s Barbecue owner sentenced in death of dependent person

The owner of a local barbecue pop-up was sentenced Jan. 5 to 60 days in jail after pleading guilty to criminal mistreatment in the death of a man who was in the care of his adult foster care home.

Trebriel Larry, 30, owner of Briel’s Barbecue, was initially charged in Polk County Circuit Court with manslaughter for the death of Robert Andrew Toscas, 57, on Aug. 10, 2022. He pleaded guilty in November 2025 to first-degree criminal mistreatment.

Larry was the owner of Thrive Care Services in Dallas, according to Oregon Secretary of State business records…
