Officer-Involved Shooting Under Investigation In Albany; Separate Death Probed Near Police Station

Albany police shot a knife-wielding suspect during a domestic disturbance Tuesday, while deputies separately investigated a possible suicide after a body was discovered near the police station.

Albany, OR. — Authorities are investigating two separate incidents involving gunshot wounds in Albany on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, including an officer-involved shooting during a domestic disturbance and a later, unrelated death near the city’s police department.

According to the Albany Police Department, officers responded at approximately 10:48 a.m. to a reported domestic disturbance involving a weapon in the 1300 block of Twins Lane NW. Upon arrival, officers encountered an individual armed with a knife.

Police said two officers discharged their firearms, striking the individual. Officers immediately rendered medical aid until emergency responders arrived. The individual was transported to an area hospital for treatment; their condition has not been released…
