Salem power outage affects hundreds of homes; public library evacuated

About 1,700 homes and businesses in South Salem lost power after a vehicle crashed into a utility pole just before noon on Jan. 21, according to Portland General Electric.

The outage led the Salem Public Library to evacuate its main branch. It will remain closed for the rest of the day, the city said in a social media post. The West Salem branch is still open but did not have internet access as of 1:45 p.m.
