Suspicious package in Woodburn found to be nonhazardous

A bin containing wires and a battery that had been left behind a local business in Woodburn prompted a response from the Oregon State Police bomb squad Friday, Jan. 23.

Woodburn police responded around 2:45 p.m. Friday to a report to a suspicion package behind a business in the 1300 block of North Front Street. Authorities say the item was a hard storage container with wires and a battery inside. Law enforcement diverted traffic and evacuated the business while the Oregon State Police bomb squad was en route to investigate the package.

Officials determined the package was not hazardous, and it was removed from the property. Roads were reopened at about 6 p.m. Friday. Hubbard Police Department and Woodburn Public Works assisted in the incident…
