Corvallis offers farmers hay cultivation leases on public lands

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The City of Corvallis is inviting local farmers to engage in hay cultivation on public lands. This initiative offers a chance to partner with the city to maintain agricultural fields in natural areas.

According to the City of Corvallis, there are 216 acres available across Bald Hill, Owens, Berg, and Orleans Natural Areas. Farmers interested in these five-year lease terms, with an option for renewal, must use their own equipment and resources. These leases focus solely on dry-land hay cultivation. This collaboration aims to manage public land, reduce wildfire risks, and sustain natural spaces.
