Two-alarm fire at Newberg home leaves one hospitalized

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — One person was hospitalized after a large two-alarm fire at a home in rural Newberg Saturday evening, authorities said.

Just before 8 p.m., Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue crews responded to reports of a kitchen on fire at a home on Old Parrett Mountain Road.

Arriving at the scene, firefighters found the home “fully involved” in fire, with flames coming from all windows and all sides, authorities said.

Officials noted accessing the home was challenging due to a long, narrow driveway extending nearly half a mile.

Crews then upgraded the fire to second-alarm and requested more resources.

All residents of the home had evacuated before firefighters arrived. But one of them attempted to re-enter the home to look for a missing cat. He was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, officials said…
