Rudy’s Steakhouse makes a comeback: Now Open at Creekside Golfcourse

Rudy’s Steakhouse is back under new ownership and in a new setting after its downtown collapse ended in an eviction and a City of Salem lawsuit over unpaid rent. The revived concept, now called Rudy’s Greenside Steakhouse, has opened at Creekside Golf Club in South Salem and is building toward a broader public relaunch in early 2026.

The comeback tests whether a legacy restaurant name can outlast a very public failure while tapping demand for a special-occasion steakhouse in Salem. For years, Rudy’s was a go-to for business dinners and celebrations, first at a golf course and later downtown—two locations that shaped how locals experienced the brand for very different reasons.

Local investors Daniel Hill and Justin Cabrera acquired the Rudy’s brand assets in 2025 and are operating independently from the former downtown company. Hill said the move to Creekside was intentional, both for the setting and for what it signals about the concept’s identity. “It would be wonderful to bring Rudy’s back to a golf course and bring it back to its roots and back to its original ethos,” he said…
