PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Cooler and wet weather returns to the Pacific Northwest on Friday and lasts through the weekend.
Temperatures are expected to sit slightly lower than the average of 51 degrees, with highs in the upper 40s along the valley. Rain is expected to become more widespread later in the day and will last through Saturday. The scattered showers will amount to nearly a quarter to half inch of rain along the Willamette Valley through the end of the weekend. Coastal areas could see closer to three-quarters of an inch to a full inch by the end of the weekend.
A cooler and wetter weather pattern will help snow elevation levels this weekend. Accumulative snow will amount to a foot to two feet for Oregon and Washington’s highest peaks. Mountain pass travelers will likely run into slushy and snow-packed roads this weekend and early next week.
Lower snow elevations are expected to last through much of next week. Snow accumulation is expected to remain higher than in any of the Portland communities. Snow levels could fall close to 1,200′ but that is subject to change as the event approaches…
