Recently I have been very disheartened and disillusioned to hear the leadership of Yamhill County continually tell us what we have is good enough.
The health care we have is good enough, the justice department is functioning well, the parklands we have access to are plentiful and cover enough types of recreation. A recent opinion piece highlighted the issue for me, as I read about plenty of places to drive to in order to enjoy the outdoors.
It made me realize our leadership currently is made up of people that own their own private parklands. Most of the people sitting on the boards that control land in Yamhill County own or manage lands in excess of what Yamhill County itself owns in parklands. If they want to get away from their house or out to enjoy nature they can go to one of various private land holdings. They can afford to drive outside the county to spend money on recreation and enjoying family time…
