A weekend trip in the Siuslaw National Forest turned violent when a 47-year-old Dallas man allegedly held and assaulted a victim at a remote campsite, including strangulation, beatings with a tree limb, and having a firearm discharged at them. The victim managed a desperate escape and required a hospital visit for their injuries.
Authorities identified the suspect as 47-year-old Travis William Ferguson, who was arrested without incident. He now faces multiple felony charges related to the assault.
