Looking out from Calapooia Commons

A few days after writing about the completion of Calapooia Commons, the mixed-use project at Fourth Avenue and Calapooia Street in Albany’s Monteith Historic District, I got a chance to check out the inside.

The development’s two three-story buildings house commercial spaces downstairs and eight apartments upstairs, two each on the second and third floors. Mark and Tina Siegner, who own the development and built it, showed me around.

The apartments, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms each, have all kinds of high-end features, including hardwood floors and windows you can open and tilt to the inside for cleaning. No need for anyone to climb a tall ladder to reach the third floor from outside…
