Record rainfall, flooding, landslides threaten Portland area

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Record-breaking rain continues to move into the Pacific Northwest on Thursday, increasing the threat of flooding and landslides.

A moderate atmospheric river will continue to push record-breaking rainfall totals into western Oregon and southwest Washington on Thursday. Forecast rainfall amounts are expected to reach near 2.0 inches by Thursday for Portland. That would break the old record for rainfall seen on March 12 of 1.03 inches in 2012.
