SALEM, Ore. — A reported hostage situation in Salem ended with the suspect hospitalized after Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies used “deadly force” during the incident.

The sheriff’s office didn’t share what kind of deadly force was used, as the term refers to things like live ammunition or other specific enforcement measures — not necessarily whether or not the person died. Officials didn’t disclose the current condition of the suspect, but did say that no deputies were hurt during the incident.
