SALEM, OR — The Oregon State Police (OSP) has launched an investigation into a deputy-involved shooting that occurred Tuesday morning, March 17, 2026, following a reported hostage situation at a residence in Salem.
According to investigators, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office received two separate 911 calls from a residence on State Street SE. The first call at 6:13 AM was cleared after deputies received no response. A second call at 6:54 AM indicated a caller was being held hostage in a bathroom before the line disconnected.
