Motorists traveling southbound on Highway 219 may have noticed that things look different at the thoroughfare’s intersection with the eastern terminus of the Newberg-Dundee bypass — very different.
In one night, crews recently completed one of the major milestones of Phase 2A of the project, namely setting four 124-foot-long steel-plate girders that make up the bridge carrying the eastbound offramp over Highway 219.
“These are the only bridge beams included in this phase of the project,” Mindy McCartt, public information officer for the Oregon Department of Transportation, said in an email. “A future phase (2B) is expected to include two similar bridges, though they will be wider.”…
