Oregon Woman Who Got Into Stranger’s Car After Running Out of Gas on Highway 22 Found Safe Three Days Later

Maria Linda Jade Kilmer, who went missing on the night of March 28 when her vehicle ran out of gas on Highway 22 between Salem and Lyons in Marion County, was found safe on Friday morning, days after her mysterious disappearance.

Oregon State Police confirmed that she was found safe and unharmed several days after she was reported as missing from a Marion County highway.

After her disappearance, Kilmer’s passenger said she had accepted a ride from a stranger who stopped where their car ran out of gas. She had left behind her belongings, including her keys, purse, ID, and phone.

Kilmer was found after she reached out to a family member by dropping a pin on the side of Highway 22 and later confirmed her identity to OSP. Investigators are still looking into what led up to her going missing, but say they haven’t found any evidence of a crime…
