Oregon Students Advance To National History Day After Salem Competition

SALEM, OR – Fifty-four Oregon students are advancing to the National History Day contest after qualifying at the state competition April 11 at Willamette University.

About 160 middle and high school students from cities including Portland, Beaverton, Corvallis, Bend and Medford competed in Oregon History Day, presenting documentaries, exhibits, papers, performances and websites based on the theme “Revolution, Reaction, Reform in History.”

The program is Oregon’s affiliate of National History Day, a project-based academic competition in which students in grades 6–12 conduct research using primary and secondary sources and develop historical arguments on topics of their choice…
