Enforcement ramps up across Utah as ‘deadliest days of summer’ begin for motorists

As temperatures rise during the summer months, so do the dangers on Utah roadways, ushering in the start of the annual period known as the “100 Deadliest Days of Summer.”

How deadly it turns out to be all comes down to drivers’ decisions, authorities say.

Historically, fatal crashes nearly double during the summer compared with the rest of the year. The 100 Deadliest Days — a three-month stretch between Memorial Day and Labor Day — are when more people die in crashes than at any other time of year, according to Zero Fatalities Utah.
