Man accused of attempted murder after firing handgun in I-15 road rage incident

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A man was taken into custody, accused of attempted murder, after he allegedly fired his gun at another driver in a road rage incident on Interstate 15.

According to investigators, Pedro A Encarnacion, 31, began “driving aggressively” toward the victim while heading northbound on I-15 in Salt Lake County on May 22.

The victim said he saw Encarnacion “motion to grab a firearm” before firing the weapon in his direction. Investigators said the bullet struck the victim’s car and lodged into the front passenger compartment.

Investigators used dashcam footage from the victim’s car to identify Encarnacion and track him to an apartment complex near 1900 West and North Temple in Salt Lake.
