Utah firefighters get brief weather relief as winds weaken following wildfire surge

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Strong winds spread wildfires Saturday across thousands of acres of Utah lands, but the gusts are expected to weaken Sunday by comparison.

With wildfires burning, firefighters dealt with a wind shift from a cold front on Saturday. Today, winds will come from the north to northwest and will get slightly gusty at times with wind speeds reaching the upper-teens at times.

Air quality will be an issue with all the smoke in the air. Air quality is currently at an “orange,” which means it’s unhealthy for sensitive groups.

Dry weather and sunshine are also in the forecast today, with slightly cooler temperatures for firefighters…
