SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah (ABC4) — According to the South Salt Lake Police Department (SSLPD), 3300 S is completely closed from 300 W to Main Street. It is closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
SSLPD says the road will likely be closed for the next few hours, and officials are asking pedestrians and drivers in the area to seek an alternate route. The Utah Department of Transportation states the road will likely be closed until 11:05 p.m.
The closure is in place due to a gas leak, SSLPD says, and the South Salt Lake City Fire Department and Enbridge Gas are handling the incident. According to SSLFD, the leak was caused by a fiber optic company that was working in the area.
Currently, SSLFD crews are checking local businesses for elevated gas levels. There are no evacuations in place at this time…
