Salt Lake City’s banana pudding royalty

SALT LAKE CITY, UT (Good Things Utah) – From hidden gem to locate favorite. It’s the cutest little treat shop in Sugar House. Pastry Chef and co-founder of Parfe Diem, Parker Barbee, came on GTU to talk about all the flavors that people are loving. The shop is known to be Salt Lake City’s banana pudding royalty and home of the scratch-baked wafer

Parker says he built this entire brand from scratch. Everything you see from the logo, to the labels, the website, and recipes are all created by Parker. He says his shop is an original dessert concept created right here in Salt Lake. Parfe Diem opened 3 years ago. ‘While others feature banana pudding, we focus on it. Our texture is not like a traditional pudding and is more whipped, light and fluffy, yet indulgent. We don’t use the status quo of “Nilla” wafers like everyone else, we actually make our own vanilla wafers from scratch,’ says Parker.

Parfe Diem has received awards: Voted Best Comfort Food 2024 – City Weekly Best of Utah. Voted Best Dessert – Best of SLC 2025. Recognized nationally – One of 3 local Utah businesses to be named one of Yelp’s top 100 local businesses for 2025. Won a $25,000 Award from Daymond John’s Black Entrepnuer’s Day, 2024, Awarded $15,000 in the Mountan West Small Business Pitch Competition (2nd Place)…
