SALT LAKE CITY — For nearly a century, beginning toward the end of the 1800s, the trolleys that served as Salt Lake City’s public transportation were housed at a facility along 500 South near 600 East and 700 East.
Even after trolleys were phased out of the city, the barns were eventually saved from demolition in the 1970s and transformed into a shopping mall, becoming what it is today: Trolley Square.
