Mystery flock camera put Millcreek on edge, then came the search for answers

MILLCREEK, Utah (KUTV) — A Flock license plate reader found on Millcreek city property was not operating or collecting data when it was removed, and city officials believe it was either an overlooked camera from an old police contract or one installed by a previous private property owner.

The camera drew questions after the city said it had not authorized its installation and did not know who put it there.

Mayor Cheri Jackson said city department heads were unaware of the camera. Unified Police Department had previously contracted with Flock Safety, the mayor said, but that agreement had ended years earlier with the understanding that the company would remove the cameras…
