Celebration of the Ages festival recognizes seniors on National Seniors Day

On Friday, Aug. 21, Tracy Aviary, in collaboration with the organization Living and Aging with Pride, held a festival celebrating National Seniors Day.

For the second year, Celebration of the Ages was held to recognize and celebrate the senior community in Salt Lake City. The festival commemorated the wisdom and knowledge that seniors have while simultaneously offering resources to help them with any issues they may face. While at the aviary, seniors and family members were able to walk around to see the birds, mingle, listen to music and hear from guest speakers.

Living and aging with pride

One of the collaborators helping with the festival was Living and Aging with Pride. The Executive Director, Founder, and Producer James Brown sat down with The Chronicle to share information about the program.

“It’s a resource for seniors,” Brown said about Living and Aging with Pride. He explained that the organization helps with issues that typically impact seniors such as wellness, fitness, and loneliness. “Since I’m an authentic senior, I can speak directly to the things that seniors go through and hopefully enlighten them as to what the best process is to navigate through the system,” he said…
