Young bear tranquilized, removed from tree in Salt Lake neighborhood

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A young bear was tranquilized and removed from a tree in the Avenues neighborhood just east of downtown Salt Lake.

Residents first reported the bear on Tuesday, Sept. 22, as it moved west through the area. A bear with a similar description was seen again in several areas on Wednesday, Sept. 23.

Around 7:30 p.m., wildlife officials said the bear climbed up a tree, giving a Department of Natural Resources officer, Salt Lake City Police and Salt Lake City Fire firefighters an opportunity to respond…
