The specialty retailer will officially grand open its 250th unit on Oct. 2 in West Jordan, Utah – a major suburb of Salt Late City. The 18,362-square-foot store is located at Jordan Landing. Last week, World Market also opened a new 19,368-square-foot unit at Prosperity Centre in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
The company’s deliberately paced store openings are bringing it closer to the 259-unit operation it had prior to its acquisition by Bed Bath & Beyond in a deal valued at approximately $495 million. By 2017, World Market had expanded to 276 stores across 35 states and the District of Columbia – the chain’s peak footprint.
When private equity firm Kingswood Capital Management acquired the chain in January 2021 from a financially wobbling BBB, World Market’s store count had fallen back to 243 locations…
