Murray police seek public help in fatal hit-and-run

MURRAY, Utah ( ABC4 ) — Murray police are asking for the public’s help in finding a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run accident with a bicyclist that occurred near 1100 East and 5600 South on Monday, Feb. 5.

According to Murray City officials , the bicyclist was traveling westbound on 5600 South around 7:15 p.m. when they were struck. Witnesses told police they saw a blue Toyota hatchback leaving the area of the accident.

“The vehicle will have front end damage and it is likely the driver knew their vehicle struck something in the roadway,” Law enforcement authorities said via a press release.

The bicyclist was reportedly taken to the hospital where they died due to their injuries. In the interest of privacy for the family, the man has only been identified as being a 50-year-old who lived in the area.

Murray City Police investigators said they would like to speak to the driver of the blue Toyota hatchback that was reportedly in the area at the time of the accident and anyone else who may have been involved. Investigators are asking anyone who may have information related to the incident to call the police department at 801-840-4000 and reference case MR2024-3658.
